Join us for a celebration of Hand Maiden Fine Yarn's 15th Anniversary! Jana Dempsey, founder and head "maiden", will be journeying to the Beehive from Halifax to present fan favourites of the past 15 years, as well as new designs and fibre combinations exploring the concept of knitting as fabric making and how to pair colour and textures.
To help celebrate, we will be offering a one night only 15% off sale on all Hand Maiden Fine Yarn and Fleece Artist Yarns carried in store.
There is no charge for this event, but we do ask that you register to confirm your attendance.
After growing up working in the family yarn and artist supply shop Fleece Artist in Halifax Nova Scotia, Jana escaped to the west coast pursuing other artistic endeavours only to to be snared by a net of wonderfully woolly and silky yarns. She started Hand Maiden Fine Yarn in Vancouver in 2004 focusing on luxurious fibres – silk, cashmere, camel and fine kid mohair and blending these together and with other fibres. She introduced Seasilk to the market in 2004, followed by Casbah – Merino, Cashmere, Nylon for socks (yes – this didn’t exist before) in 2005. Quickly outgrowing her East Vancouver studio, and unable to afford the crazy Vancouver real estate market, she relocated east in 2009, still calling BC her second home.
